Canadian Research Highlighted at ORS 2018

Canada had the honour of being selected as the Guest Nation at the recent ORS Annual Meeting held from March 10-13 in New Orleans.  This initiative gave us the opportunity to have Canadian research highlighted prominently in the ORS program. A featured Guest Nation workshop moderated by Drs. Fackson Mwale and Albert Yee entitled: “Functional Analysis the Key to the Next Revolution in the Treatment and Prevention of Hip and Knee Arthritis” highlighted excellent research from the east to west coast with Drs. Janie Wilson (Dalhousie), Mario Lamontagne (Ottawa), Paul E. Beaulé (Ottawa) and David Wilson (UBC) participating as presenters in this session.  This workshop was extremely well attended and stimulated considerable discussion among participants.  A Guest Nation poster exhibit also included posters from Canadian presenters, Drs. Philippe Phan, Jakub Szmit, and Atheer Zarir.

The Guest Nation booth in the exhibit hall served as a venue for head office staff and members of the CORS Executive and membership to be able to network with orthopaedic researchers from around the world and discuss Canadian research initiatives and projects.

The ORS meeting also provided a prime occasion to promote the International Combined Orthopaedic Research Societies (ICORS) Meeting being held in Montreal from June 19-22.  CORS President, Dr. Fackson Mwale, delivered the guest nation address during the ORS welcome session and encouraged all ORS participants to register and attend this CORS and COA-hosted event.
