surgeon.gifIn translation from its Greek root the term orthopaedic means "straight child", reflecting the responsibility of the orthopaedic surgeon to strive to maintain and restore proper function of the musculoskeletal system, not only in children but also in patients of all ages.

Having accomplished the general and specific objectives of orthopaedic training, the graduate surgeon, upon completion of the educational program in Orthopaedic Surgery, will be competent to function as a consultant in Orthopaedic Surgery.
