2 Trauma Fellowship Opportunities
Where: Halifax Nova Scotia QE II HSC
When: July 1 – duration 1 year although occasionally a candidate will wish to do a 2-year term (1 in reseach and 1 in clinical work)
The QE II HSC is a level one trauma centre that resides in Halifax Nova Scotia Canada. A cosmopolitan City with many things to offer. It receives a tremendous volume of fracture patients and has a dedicated orthopaedic trauma room that runs every day from 7:30 until 5:00 plus additional hours on the weekend as required.
Isolated fractures contribute to our main volume but multiple injured patients are our specialty. We have a dedicated QE II trauma team and a provincial EHS system including helicopter transport to our centre direct from the roadside.
Two fellowship-trained orthopaedic staff (Drs. Chad Coles and Ross Leighton) will be the main contact people but there are an additional 12 orthopaedic staff who also contribute to the overall experience. We do have the option of combining another interest into the same year should the candidate wish a broader experience ( ie. arthroplasty or others). We have run this trauma fellowship for 17 years and all of our fellows have obtained work of their choosing.
