University of Ottawa – Comprehensive Knee Fellowship

Comprehensive knee fellowships are now available at the University of Ottawa under the supervision of Drs. Geoffrey Dervin and Michael Pickell beginning July 1, 2020. The postgraduate fellow will treat the gamut of knee pathology with meniscal and articular cartilage repair and allograft along with single and multiple ligament reconstruction, and progressive arthritis with osteotomy, unicompartment replacement and total knee replacement and some revision total knee.

The fellow will also be expected to participate in research at a significant level and those fellows with aspirations of further academic careers will be encouraged. Preference will be given to a twelve-month duration although six month postings can be arranged if available. Likely arrangement would be a six-month fellowship with Dr. Dervin and a six-month fellowship with Dr. Pickell although there is overlap throughout the entire year for exposure to unusual cases which favors a 12 month posting.

Funding will be consistent with Division of Orthopaedic fellowship salary policy and the source of funding is expected to be billings for Canadian graduates. Foreign graduates would require some independent personal or industry support as salary funds are limited for non-Canadian graduates who cannot bill assist fees.
