Accreditation

The COA is an accredited CPD provider of credits in the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The Association is certified to accredit courses and conferences developed by physician organizations (e.g. faculties of medicine, hospital divisions, medical associations, and others).

The COA Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Accreditation Subcommittee reviews all accreditation applications and provides feedback to the applicant.

Refer to the CE Educator’s Toolkit developed by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education. It contains evidence-based design and implementation strategies for effective continuing education.

Timeline for Accrediting with the COA

  1. At least 6 weeks prior to the event, submit the COA Accreditation Application Form and supporting documentation to the COA Accreditation Subcommittee at education@canorth.org. Please note: A rush fee will apply to late submissions. 
  2. A COA staff member will confirm receipt and review your application for completeness. They may follow up to request missing items or to suggest improvements.
  3. Once complete, the application is forwarded to the Committee. Please allow 2-3 weeks for review. The committee will issue one of the following decisions: Approved / Approved with conditions (modifications required) / Not approved
  4. If approved, the accreditation statement will be provided to you. Please add it to the event program and promotional materials.
  5. After the event, please submit the final program, list of attendees (names only – for record-keeping purposes), and overall evaluation results to education@canorth.org.
