Surveys to COA Membership

Survey Distribution Guidelines

One of the main objectives of the Canadian Orthopaedic Association is to support and promote research amongst its members. To help standardize, focus and improve the quality of surveys distributed while encouraging completion by its members, the COA Standards Committee will oversee all survey requests and control distribution of surveys to members.

Please forward the following items to policy@canorth.org:

  • contact information of the primary researcher
  • centre(s), universities conducting the research
  • title of the research project
  • brief description of the research project
  • copy/link of the survey
  • how survey results will change or inform practice
  • letter of approval from an orthopaedic subspecialty society if applicable (see “subspecialties” on COA web page menu)
  • target participants (who should complete the survey?)
  • copy of Institutional Review Board, Research Ethics Board or Independent Ethics Committee approval

Additional conditions:

  • all projects and survey requests are subject to approval by the Canadian Orthopaedic Association’s Standards Committee.
  • survey distribution requests must be submitted before the bi-annual deadline of May 1 and November 1.
  • time to complete the survey may not exceed 15 minutes
  • all surveys must be mobile accessible for completion
  • acknowledgement of the Canadian Orthopaedic Association must be recorded in future publications
  • survey requests will be sent out three times a year (January, April and October) with single reminder emails 6 weeks after first send out
