Canadian Orthopaedic Residents Association (CORA)

About CORA

CORA is the national association for Canadian orthopaedic resident doctors. CORA fosters resident research and education, stages the CORA Annual Meeting, represents the interests and concerns of orthopaedic residents to the COA, and promotes improvements in the residency training programs.

Resident Membership to CORA and the COA

CORA membership: All orthopaedic resident doctors in Canada are automatically granted membership to CORA. CORA members will receive periodic email updates from CORA related to the Annual Meeting and various scholarship and other opportunities for residents.

COA membership for residents: COA membership is not automatically granted to residents. Canadian orthopaedic residents can apply to become COA Associate members. Associate membership is free, and requires you to complete a simple membership application form.

Journey into Leadership: CORA Coffee Chat with the COA Presidential Line

The following is a summary from the April 2023 Coffee Chat hosted by 2022-2023 CORA Co-Chairs Dr. Laura Morrison and Dr. Laurel Collings of the University of Calgary.

They were joined by 2022-2023 COA President Dr. Laurie Hiemstra (Banff Sport Medicine), 2022-2023 COA President-Elect (current President) Dr. Pierre Guy (University of British Columbia) and 2022-2023 COA 2nd President-Elect Dr. Olufemi Ayeni (McMaster University.) As they shared their insights, they illuminated common themes that have shaped their pathways to leadership within the Canadian Orthopedic Association.

22nd Annual Canadian Orthopaedic Resident Forum (CORF)

April 26-28, 2024
Virtual Zoom

CORF will be an intense 3 day program of interactive, non-didactic experiences. Groups will not exceed more than 12 people per group. Each group will have a dedicated session each morning and afternoon in each sub-specialty of orthopaedic surgery. During each session participants will undergo orals and OSCEs based on the Royal College examination process. All sessions will be in English but examination orals will be available in French.

Mandatory COA Membership: All CORF resident attendees are required to be Associate members of the Canadian Orthopaedic Association (COA). It’s free to join! Contact info@canorth.org.
