COA Symposium: Hand and Wrist – Technical Tips for the Tough Distal Radius Fracture

Friday, June 18 | 8:30 PM – 9:30 PM ET

Outline:
Good outcomes can be expected for open reduction and fixation of simple extra articular and undisplaced intra-articular distal radius fracture using many treatment techniques. Failure of fixation still occurs with challenging subsets of distal radius fracture. The volar and dorsal fracture dislocation of the wrist may be challenging to fix because of comminution and difficulty with fixation of small fragments. Fixation of the ’smashed ‘ distal radius can be frustrating and unsatisfying.

This symposium aims to improve surgeon confidence with exposure and fixation of these unique fractures, with case based description of tips and tricks and bail out solutions to gain confidence and improved outcomes.

Session Chairs:
Thomas Goetz

Presentations:

  1. Tips for Improved Access for Volar Plating
    Thomas Joseph Goetz
  2. Tips and Pearls for the Volar Lip Fracture Dislocation
    Matthew Furey
  3. Tips and Pearls for the Comminuted Dorsal Bartons with Instability
