2021 COFAS Business Meeting

The Canadian Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (COFAS) is hosting their Business Meeting virtually on July 29th at 8PM Eastern Time. All COFAS members have received the Zoom Meeting details via email.

2021 is an Election Year for COFAS, so they are looking to fill 5 positions on their executive team for 2021-2023 by COFAS active members to serve:

  1. President-elect
  2. Secretary
  3. Research Chair
  4. Education Chair
  5. Members-at-Large

If interested in one of the roles above, please review the role descriptions here then send a brief statement of interest to by July 23rd, 2021. Please note that the nominees must attend the COFAS Virtual Business Meeting on July 29th to be eligible for the position. The vote will be carried by the membership present.

2022 COFAS Symposium

The 14th Biennial Canadian Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Symposium will take place on April 1-2, 2022, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Canada.

The Biennial Foot and Ankle Symposium is Canada’s largest surgical Foot & Ankle meeting. Not only does it provide a centralized forum for practising orthopaedic surgeons to stay current, but it also allows for an opportunity to meet face to face. Biennial Foot & Ankle Symposium is the yearly hub for the Canadian orthopaedic community.

COFAS members, Johnny Lau MD FRCSC and Timothy Daniels MD FRCSC from University of Toronto will serve as Program Directors. The 2022 hot topics are:

  • Minimally invasive forefoot surgery
  • Use of minimally invasive surgery for deformity correction in Charcot
  • Salvaging complications of the Ring Fixator
  • Deformity correction and TAR; Salvage of failed TAR
  • Cartilage- transfer/transplant – why aren’t we doing better
  • Lesser toe mtp oa salvage
  • Perceptions vs reality in forefoot surgery
  • Small Quality improvement initiatives and where to start

2021 COA Annual Meeting

The 2021 COA Annual Meeting was held virtually from June 15-19, 2021. The conference was delivered over 4 evenings  and 1 day of online education, including subspecialty programming, CORA and CORS sessions, presentation and networking opportunities.
