CAS Intro to Arthroplasty Fundamentals for Residents

February 3 & 10, 2026

Encourage the residents in your program to participate in the CAS Arthroplasty Fundamentals free virtual 2-part course!

Residents will learn the basics of complex primary hip arthroplasty in this virtual 2-part didactic and interactive course. Led by experts in lower extremity arthroplasty from across Canada, each 90-minute module covers a wide range of fundamental topics and includes case-based discussions.

Open to all residents in Canadian orthopaedic training programs, but best suited for PGY 1-3 residents. Free registration includes access to both Part I (February 3) and Part II (February 10) virtual modules.

Canadian Orthopaedic Association Basic Science Course

The course has transitioned permanently to a virtual format and has been divided into four modules spread over 2 years. This registration is for both dates below:

AMMI Canada, Canadian Arthroplasty Society and COA Present: Oral Antibiotic Treatment for Prosthetic Joint Infections

The Association of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Disease Canada (AMMI Canada) and the Canadian Orthopedic Association (COA) and Canadian Arthroplasty Society (CAS) hosted an insightful session comparing traditional intravenous treatments for bacterial bone and joint infections, including prosthetic joint infections, with the latest evidence on the effectiveness of oral antibiotic therapy.

CORA Presents: Securing Employment Post-Residency – A Fireside Chat with COA Presidential Line

Co-hosted by CORA co-chairs Drs. Allison Loewen and Malik Ali from Dalhousie University, this free virtual session offered residents across Canada a unique opportunity to gain invaluable insights from members of the COA Presidential line (Drs. Femi Ayeni, Sukhdeep Dulai, and Laurie Hiemstra), about the transition from residency to professional practice.

The COA & Choosing Wisely Canada Present: Environmental Stewardship in the Orthopaedic Operating Room (Accredited Webinar)

24th Annual Canadian Orthopaedic Resident Forum (CORF)

March 27-29, 2026
Virtual, Offered in French and English

CORF is an intensive three-day program focused on interactive, hands-on learning rather than traditional lectures. Each small group (maximum 12 participants) will have dedicated morning and afternoon sessions across all orthopaedic subspecialties. These sessions include oral exams and OSCEs modeled on the Royal College examination process.

The program addresses challenges in exam communication skills, uses interactive methods, and emphasizes small-group learning through case-based discussions. CORF combines multiple instructional approaches to move beyond the traditional didactic model, aligning with the shift from “teaching” to “producing learning.”

All sessions will be in English but examination orals will be available in French.
