About

The Canadian Paediatric Orthopaedic Society (formerly known as Canadian Paediatric Orthopaedic Group/CPOG) is a research group that provides a collaborative research forum for orthopaedic surgeons and allied health care professionals practicing in Canada with an interest in clinical research. This organization provides an opportunity to examine the features of paediatric orthopaedic surgery unique to the Canadian environment and to improve clinical practice and research methods. CPOS’s goal is to continually move towards clinical excellence through research and education while translating knowledge into tangible diagnostic, preventative and therapeutic health benefits.

CPOS Objectives

  • To provide a collaborative forum for orthopaedic surgeons in Canada whose practices have a substantial interest in the management of paediatric orthopaedic conditions.
  • To facilitate and stimulate the academic and scientific exchange of ideas and thoughts between these individuals.
  • To promote and support discovery science, epidemiologic, economic and clinical paediatric orthopaedic research within CPOS by individuals, single sites and multi-centre collaboration.
  • To promote excellence in paediatric orthopaedic care in Canada by developing and disseminating evidence-based best practice guidelines and by developing and offering educational products for paediatric orthopaedic trainees, practitioners and the public.

CPOS Statement on Injury Prevention – April 2020

April 15, 2020

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, your most important contribution is to adhere to social distancing measures. However, the Canadian Paediatric Orthopaedic Group acknowledges the challenge that comes with the closure of schools, childcare and organized sport and activities.

While trampolines, ATVs, motorbikes and snowmobiles may provide entertainment and activity, they carry a high risk of severe injuries. We encourage caregivers to consider the consequences of these injuries during the COVID-19 pandemic.
