Clinical Research Project

May 2017 – Type II SCH study

Collaborating sites: Halifax, NS; St. Johns, NL; Ottawa, ON; London, ON; Edmonton, AB; Calgary, AB; Quebec City, QC; Montreal, QC; Saskatoon, SK; Winnipeg, MB; New Westminster, BC; Prince George, BC

Aim: Prospectively compare clinical, functional and radiographic outcomes between operatively and non-operatively treated patients with Type II supracondylar humerus fractures.

Null hypothesis: Non-operative treatment is inferior to operative treatment.

Study design: Prospective multicentre observational cohort study

Study arms:

  • Nonoperative arm (30 patients)
  • Operative arm (30 patients)
